IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that in light of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, we have agreed that:

  • Our forthcoming tour to Weston-Super-Mer has been cancelled immediately,
  • Our weekly rehearsals are now suspended until September (when we will review the national situation),
  • And, our AGM, due to take place in May will now be postponed until we reconvene.

We are really sorry to be sharing this news and hope all agree that, in the circumstances, these are right and sensible decisions.

We are a non-auditioning female group with a focus on fun!

We do lots of tours, rehearse once a week in Biggleswade on Thursday nights and work hard/play hard. Membership costs £15 per term (£45 per year).

All are welcome: With over 50-60 members attending our weekly rehearsals – we certainly have a lot to say (and sing) for ourselves!

Your first session is free and anyone is welcome to come and listen at any time.

Find us and follow us on Facebook for live updates, videos, images and lots more info about what we are up to.

Join us every Thursday night at Trinity (Methodist Church) in Biggleswade from 7.45 till 9.45.  Shortmead St, Biggleswade SG18 0AP

All About us:

Founded by Douglas Coombes in 1978 the name Amici means ‘friend’ and this really is the right name for our choir.  We take our singing seriously and we enjoy what we do too. Many of us have been members since the beginning! That’s a lot of Thursday nights…

Musical Director – Dr. Douglas Coombes M.B.E.

President – Brian Mack – please see the following notice regarding Brian:

We are extremely sad to report the passing of a legend in the viola world – Brian Mack who died March 24th 2019. A huge personality who did much to improve the pay and conditions of players in the West End, and a player with most of the great orchestras in the UK. Always in demand by the likes of Frank Sinatra when touring Europe and latterly principal viola of the New English Concert Orchestra. Always stylish, he cut a dashing figure both on and off the platform and was hugely entertaining with his fund of stories from the world of music. He was the longest serving President and great supporter of the Amici Singers and will be greatly missed. Condolences to his family. R I P Brian.
